    Stark Museum of Art Introduces Educator at Reception
               
    ORANGE, Texas, October 29--The Stark Museum of Art will introduce its new Chief Educator, Dr. Elena Ivanova, to area educators at a reception, Tuesday, November 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the museum in Orange, Texas.  The event is open to any public or private school educator in the region.
     
    "I look forward to introducing to the community our Education staff, including the new Chief Educator, Dr. Elena Ivanova," said Sarah Boehme, Director of the Stark Museum of Art. "Dr. Ivanova brings a wealth of experience to this position having served as Curator of Education at the Cranbrook Art Museum. She earned a doctorate in Education from the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia, and a master's in Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma. We are pleased to have her work with our Educator for Public Programs, Amelia Wiggins, who has added many new elements to our educational programming."  
     
    The event will provide an opportunity for administrators, teachers and others to learn about exciting programs for K-12 students, which are designed to address a wide variety of subjects and learning skills. The programs are offered free of charge and include the coverage of transportation expenses. 
     
    At the reception, educators will hear about the upcoming exhibitions planned for winter and spring 2010. The collections galleries will be open for viewing, with museum docents standing by to answer questions. The guests will be treated to light refreshments and have a chance to win door prizes.

    About the Stark Museum of Art

    The Stark Museum of Art focuses on the stunning land, the dramatic people and the diverse wildlife of the American West. Paintings, sculpture and prints interpret the West from nineteenth century frontier artists to the twentieth century artistic colonies in New Mexico. Artists include John James Audubon, Frederic Remington, Charles Marion Russell and Georgia O'Keeffe. 
     
    The Museum also features a significant collection of American Indian objects, including baskets, pottery, clothing and weavings. Other permanent collections in the Museum include the complete porcelain American Bird Series by Dorothy Doughty and the only complete series of The United States in Crystal, a collection of crystal urns produced by Steuben Glass to depict the 50 states and the Union.
     
    The Stark Museum of Art is a program of the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, a non-profit organization whose other programs include the Frances Ann Lutcher Theater for the Performing Arts, Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, and The W.H.
