Elena Ivanova, Ph.D.
Chief Educator
Elena Ivanova oversees the museum’s educational mission and develops plans for educational programming related to the museum’s collections and exhibitions. Her duties include implementing gallery tours, lectures and classes for audiences of all ages; developing curriculum-based programs for schools and teacher workshops; recruiting, training and supervising docents; and evaluating educational programs.
In September of 2009 Elena Ivanova joined the Stark Museum of Art staff. Prior to this position, Elena Ivanova served for eight years as Curator of Education at Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She also worked at Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati, Ohio; University of Michigan Museum of Art in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and at The Russian Museum, in St. Petersburg, Russia. Her professional interests include such areas as lifelong learning in art museums and methodology of museum education.
Elena Ivanova holds a master’s degree in English language and literature from the University of St. Petersburg and a doctorate in education from the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, both in St. Petersburg, Russia, and a master’s degree in liberal studies from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.
