Museums West

The Stark Museum of Art is a member of Museums West.

Founded in 1991, Museums West is a consortium of independent museums, each nationally renowned for its collection.  Together the member institutions of Museums West advance the study, exhibition, publication, and interpretation of the art, history, and cultures of the North American West.

The Stark Museum of Art joins eleven other leading museums, Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, Texas; Autry National Center of the American West, Los Angeles, California; Booth Western Art Museum, Cartersville, Georgia; Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Cody, Wyoming; Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado; Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, Indianapolis, Indiana; Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha, Nebraska; National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson, Wyoming; and Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Corning, New York.

Through its collaborative efforts, the consortium seeks to expand the awareness and appreciation of the art, culture, history and natural history of the region for an increasingly diverse audience.  The Web site, www.museumswest.org, provides links to the member museums and the wonderful resources they offer.
